Fitch Mountain Foot Race 2009

June 8th, 2009 | by Travis

I take four Team Tri-Sol members out to the Fitch Mountain Foot Race this last Sunday morning. We could not have had a better morning for a race. With the sun poking though the clouds and crisp cool moisture in the air the group was ready.

Stacy was the one and only member of the team to do the 10K race and it was her very first 10K race. She was 9 in her age group and run 1:03.41 in a very challenging race. Overall a very nice race run by Stacy, well done.

On the 3K side of the event I had Lilana, Massimo, and Savahhah in the race ready to run fast.

Lilana Van Zutphen was 1st in her age group 23rd overall out of 54 athletes. Savahhah was 2ed in her age group and 32ed overall or of 54 runners. Keep in mind that the sisters were the two youngest to do the race the year and to finish. On the boys end Massimo Tuscany was 2ed in his age group and 38th overall out of 50 runners. This was amazing event for Team Tri-Sol and all because of the fast running by Stacy, Lilana, Savahhah and Massimo. Congratulations to everybody.

Human Race

May 10th, 2009 | by Travis

Saturday was the Human Race and it was a beautiful day and event. Over 10,000 people attended the race and event. It just so happens that the race was on Mothers Day weekend and I did not have the group I would have had if it were not that weekend.  Shelby and I had a great time watching Conor get ready and run the race very fast on that day. The distance on the race was 3K and Conor ran the entire way. Just over an 11:30 mile pace finished 222ed pace overall out of 308 runner in the 3K. Way to go Conor.

Treeline Triathlon on April 25th

April 26th, 2009 | by Travis

Race Morning
Race Morning

Today Jennifer and Stacy competed in the 2009 Moraga Treeline Sprint Triathlon. The distance was a 400 meter swim, 14 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run in the Town of Moraga.

Jennifer lead the two off with a good swim. I think it would have been better if the other athletes had put a better guessed time. She had to do some passing of other swimmer, keep in mind that the swim is in a 50meter swimming pool. All things considering she had a very good swim.

Her bike ride went well other than a few naps in there, but it was great to hear she was was able to pump herself up and push it.The best part of Jennifer’s day would have been the run which was nothing less than a great run. She was just over a 10 min. mile pace for a very hilly course. This shows me that she is now under a 10 min. mile pace on a course that would be moderately easier than this one on the day.Jennifer lead the two off with a good swim. I think it would have been better if the other athletes had put a better guessed time. She had to do some passing of other swimmer, keep in mind that the swim is in a 50 meter swimming pool. All things considering she had a very good swim. Her overall time was 1 hour 48 minutes 49 seconds. She was 14th in her age-group and was 170th overall out of 220 athletes.

Stacy as well had a great race. She started a few athletes back of Jennifer and made her way through the mess of people swimming to slow to be that far in front of her. She finished the swim very strong and was very ready for the bike.Stacy’s bike ride was great. She was able to make the entire bike portion look easy that when she was coming into the transition from the bike she did not even look tired. It must have been the new bike she got a few weeks age. With a fast second transition Stacy was off and running. As hard as the run course was Stacy still managed to run a 10:20 mile pace. Some may say that that is not that fast, but if you saw how hard this course you would understand why the pace was what it was. Stacy finished very strong with a time of 1 hour 44 minutes 37seconds. 12 in her age group and 157th overall it was a great triathlon for her very first one.

Congratulations Jennifer and Stacy! You bothhad a great triathlon and I hope you both had fun. I can not wait to get in you guys into another soon.

Spring Time Trial

April 21st, 2009 | by Travis

Today was the first time trial of the year for Jennifer, Shellie, and Stacy. With the tempture in the mid 90’s the group still toughed it out.

We had a great day on the bike, we did a mock triathlon last week and in just one week the entire group dropped at least one MPH.

Jennifer and Stacy to this point are more than ready for their triathlon this coming Saturday. Saturday is the Moraga Sprint Triathlon and hopefully the weather will workout for them. (not to hot and not rainy)!

Shellie also road very well, setting a personal best by a few minutes.

Congrats ladies, well done today.

Mock Triathlon

April 13th, 2009 | by Travis

Today the team did our first mock triathlon of the year. With a half mile swim, 16 mile bike, and 2.8 mile run. it was a good judge of were are groups fitness level is.

Shellie had a great swim to her tri, a strong bike and a very good run, after not running for a few weeks due to an ankle injury.

Jennifer and Stacy are getting ready to do the Moraga Sprint Triathlon at the end of the month and are well on there way to having a great event. Jennifer had a very strong showing in her swim, as did Stacy on her bike. Both ladies ran comfortable as I asked them to for enjoying the run.

Finally Dawn, who in my opinion had the best day of all. Dawn had been out for a few weeks and came back for the second workout she has been back to and performed very well. She started a little rocky with the swim but had a strong bike and walk to finish off her mock tri.

Overall a great day for Team Tri-Sol on there mock triathlon. Great job today ladies.

I’m ba-ack!

March 24th, 2009 | by Denise

Long time away.  Sometime life gets away from you especially with teenagers living in the house.  I had to get a new password to blog.  So I am officially back.  My daughter has some renewed interest in swimming and I got to get my chops back, so she won’t have yet another thing to make fun of me about.  I also have a race coming up on the 17 of April.  Travis is going to have to kick some major butt to get me ready for this one as there has been little to no exercise going on since November.  I’ve also gained a significant amount of weight.  Still eating like I’m Michael Phelps.  I would blow off this race, but I’ve already paid my entrance fee and bought my wet suit.  I don’t know how I am going to get said wet suit on.  I better stock up on some Pam spray.  The race is a short one with a 1/4 mile swim.  My goal is to finish before they start taking apart the course.  Man, I have missed the discipline of training for a race.  ’Till next time.

First Long Ride of The New Year

March 12th, 2009 | by Travis

Today Shellie, Stacy and I went out for an eleven and a half mile ride today in the beautiful morning we had. It was the first ride that we had done as a group because of weather issues we had been having around us, but all an all a great ride this morning.

Stacy is training for a triathlon she is doing at the end of April in the East Bay. She is well on her way to being able to complete the race, but at the same time having a great showing among the field.

The rest of the group has no major race planned for the next few months, but has a few little races in the mean time.
